Blessing the stage of the Gexa Energy Pavilion in Dallas, Texas, Chris Brown definitely gave a ‘Hell of a Nite’! It’s been about five years since I had last seen Chris in the same location for the F.A.M.E. tour and I was very positive that Chris was going to put on an amazing show.
The line up of the show consisted of (in order) Teyana Taylor, Fetty Wap, Omarion, Kid Ink, then of course Chris. Pregnant Teyana still gave a great show with her 90s fashion filled set, opening with new music from her new EP, The Cassette Tape 1994. I had hoped that she would perform ‘Do Not Disturb’ with Chris but she still killed her performance with her floor and chair routines. Fetty Wap really had the crowd turnt with his hype hits, entering the stage with ‘Boomin’. There were tons of girls walking around in shirts that wrote ‘Trap Queen’ in huge letters, which of course was the crowds’ favorite single. Some fans near me stated that they came just for Fetty Wap which surprised me.
Omarion was my favorite set after Chris Brown, giving me all of those throwbacks from middle school. At the beginning, Love and Hip-Hop Hollywood star and girlfriend, Apryl Jones ran out on the stage and waved at fans and stood by Omarion’s DJ, DJ Bandcamp, the entire time singing her man’s hits word for word. He gave me that throwback B2K Omarion with the dancing and songs which had me very excited like ‘Bump, Bump, Bump’, ‘Let Me Hold You’, and ‘M.I.A.’. I was wanting so much more from Omarion like new music from his ‘Sex Playlist’ album and more throwbacks because who didn’t love him from the early 00s?!
Not being very familiar with Kid Ink besides the singles with Chris, his performance had the ladies screaming and singing along the whole time. That completely surprised me because I didn’t know that he was that popular! The stage set was really nice repping Hollywood with a replica of the famous sign. Some of the hottest songs were ‘Body Language’ and of course ‘Show Me’ once he came back on stage with Chris.
When it was Chris’ time to grace the stage, the audience was first prompted to a video of Chris before shows praying with his team. We also saw Royalty, his daughter, which had the whole crowd in aw. Starting from the very beginning of his career, Chris came out to ‘Run It’ followed by ‘Yo (Excuse Me Miss), and Poppin. Being an actual #TeamBreezy member from 2005, I would have liked to hear more old songs back from the MySpace days, those unreleased singles. Performing all the current radio hits and features really had the crowd live. I would think my favorite part was the ‘Hit the Quan’ intermission of the show. I also couldn’t get over how good he looked the whole time, but I knew it was hot in this Texas weather with all the hoodies and long sleeve shirts.
The surprise guests of the night were French Montana and his crew plus Tyga without Kylie Jenner. French Montana performed ‘Pop That’ which had my whole row jumping but after a while I was ready for him to be dismissed simply because I came for Breezy.
Tyga received more praise than I excepted when performing ‘Ayo’. I really wanted them to take it back to the Fan of a Fan mixtape! I was waiting but the show ended with ‘Loyal’ and French Montana performing his verse as well.
The crowd stood the entire show, everyone was having fun, and really into it. All of the fire, sparks, colors, stage sets, dancers, and each video playing in the background really set a fun tone for the whole performance. I already think he’s amazing but the show was great beyond words. It felt me speechless, tired, and with a scratchy voice the next morning. If you’re a huge Breezy fan, then this will be more of a partying with Chris atmosphere! Chris Brown is a great performer without a doubt and made sure that everyone left with their money’s worth and thanked everyone for coming out.
Chris surely gave Dallas a hell of a night!
