Letters to My Black Man

Letters to My Black Man

Everyone has a platform and I believe with each platform we can bring change to the system or at least change the views of those around us.

Recently, there has been a series of events that has put this country in such pain for black America.  This isn’t a problem that has just occurred, it’s an on-going problem that needs to make a change.

I’ve asked individuals on different social media platforms to share their thoughts and concerns about the state that we, as a people are in. We are in this together and without sticking together, we can’t bring change but together we are a force to be reckoned with.

You can’t separate peace from freedom because no one can be at peace unless he has his freedom. – Malcolm X

Here I have given the following to have a larger platform to share their thoughts. I challenge you to also speak up for what’s right and what should be done. Here is “Letters to my Black Man.”

State of Emergency

“I have a BEAUTIFUL African American young boy and BEAUTIFUL African American fiancé and LOVING NEPHEWS as well as other great young men that I know and I am AFRAID for the first time in my LIFE for their SAFETY!

As a African American WOMAN I’m afraid for my black boys and MEN .. As my ancestors were for THEIR MEN through slavery and during Jim Crow!

WE are in a state of EMERGENCY:

Words CANNOT describe ALL the emotions that I FEEL…

WE have to come together as a COMMUNITY.. as a CULTURE as an ETHNIC GROUP as AFRICAN AMERICANS .. to SAVE our CHILDREN .. BOYS..MEN!!!

I KNOW it sounds cliché but it’s the TRUTH!!!

Whatever arena that you are in: PASTORS in the local or MEGA churches.. POLITICIANS… EDUCATORS.. LAW ENFORCEMENT..SORORITY women or FRATERNITY men.. WHEREVER “your” voice can be heard and where YOU can effect CHANGE: the time is NOW!

Be it through EDUCATING your young men at HOME or having forums at CHURCH in or your MOSQUE about HOW to deal with police when approached and being PROACTIVE so NOT to have to be pulled over or approached

Those of color in politics and the judicial system asking for legislative changes and investigations to be done…

Being more VIGILANT in your COMMUNITIES and WRITING AND CALLING to your alderman etc.. DO YOUR PART PLEASE!

This is making me feel yet ANOTHER WAY to SEPARATE and DIVIDE the Black family!!

Take away the STRONGEST link: our males! 😢😢😢😢😢

Changes to be Made

The events of last week really upset me.  I do not have a son, but I have a Black husband, brother, uncles and grandfather. I fear for their lives if they are stopped by the police. No I do not believe that all police are bad or racist. I know that all black men are not criminals. We all may be American citizens and have the same rights but when you are black please do not debate your rights on the street. If you are stopped by the police just answer the questions asked and pray that you are able to drive off.

Killing police is not the answer! The death of the police in Dallas sadden me.. It showed the American people how easily any of us can be killed. I also displayed how dangerous social media can be. there was a protester who was identified as a suspect because he was carrying a gun. His picture was plastered on social media and the news; the entire world saw his picture. When he was cleared the police nor the media cleared him of being a suspect in the same manner as they listed him as a suspected…TOTALLY WRONG!
It enrages me that several police have not been charged in the killing of Black people.
Something must be done to prevent this from occurring again. We must vote in all elections; our forefathers died for us to have that right. We also must  serve as jurors and not dodge jury duty. We must  educate ourselves on various laws and the how the government functions.
Police must stop racial profiling. Police should reside in the area that they protect. Police also need culture sensitivity training and classes on body language.
It amazes me how videos of whites breaking the law and resisting arrest are not battered or tazed.
These are a few steps that we can take to try to prevent this nonsense, killing of blacks by the police and not being charged, from occurring.

Sleep

For twenty one years I laid restless worried about my son. From the day I brought him home and I watch him sleep in his bassinet I couldn’t sleep worried about his life. What will he become? How am I going to raise him a single black woman by myself?  So I prayed over his life and received help from family and friends to guide him.  Each night I still can not get a good night sleep. Worried about him.  From him playing in sports , to girls. Now him just being a black man in America. I worry.  I thought once he made it out of high school and enter college, I could get some sleep.  BUT I CAN’T!!!!!!!! I worry that my BLACK SON will not come home.  Because of the darkness of his skin.  I’M SO TIRED. All I want is to rest and not worry about my BLACK SON.  Until this world become a better place for all of us.  I will continue not to sleep and keep praying  for our BLACK PEOPLE.
One LOVE,
TAMARA D BOGARD

Enough is Enough

Enough is enough and too much is foolish!

This is not acceptable! I am and will forever be armed……with my PHONE!!!  👀

This is no longer police brutality, it’s  MURDER! I don’t have a son but I pray for the young man my daughter dates and hope she does not have to witness this unjust behavior second hand.
I am pleading to the leaders to implement better de-escalation skills training to the public servants. I am pleading to the local politicians to higher more officers that can relate to the community they serve. I am pleading to the people to educate ourselves on our rights.

Goodbye

Dear White America,

I’m tired of of being understanding in regards to your ignorance and prejudice. I don’t give a fuck anymore if we EVER get along. You don’t want to live peaceably with us and I don’t want to live near you either. Because your actions have led me not to trust you around my children. I propose that we separate and segregate. Divide everything up equally. And go our separate ways. You’ll never change so just give us what we got coming and we’ll figure out our own shit. We’ve wasted enough time. And you’ve murdered more than enough of our children. Goodbye and good riddance.
