Keisha Brewer, co-founder of The PR Alliance shared their story of getting started in PR saying that it’s all about the research.

“Do your research.  Not only do your research on your client but do your research on the field public relations itself.  Research is key.”

“My favorite thing about being in this industry is that I love giving people opportunity especially when it comes to people of color,” said Danielle Reed of Reed Limited Entertainment. “It shouldn’t take college for you to understand how to get press and representation.”

The publicists of the evening described the long hours, the networking, working with the media, writing, and finding your niche but how it all fulfills their life.

“Being a publicist has changed my life tremendously.  It’s something I protect and fight for, it’s giving me my why and it’s so fulfilling,” shared Keisha.

Attendees had conversation starter cards to get ideas flowing.
